Legacy Platform Users and Your Retirement Assessment
The RetireMint direct-to-consumer platform remains available to existing users. If you are an existing Legacy Platform user, this section explains how we use the information you voluntarily provide in your retirement assessment.
Completing your retirement assessment is voluntary. The information you choose to provide may include your age and birth date, retirement timeline and goals, household and planning-partner details, financial information (such as income, savings, pensions, investments, assets, and debts), and lifestyle, wellness, and activity preferences. Your retirement plan, assessment results, and any content, suggestions, or resources provided through the Site or the Legacy Platform are for general informational and educational purposes only. They are not, and should not be relied upon as, financial, investment, tax, accounting, legal, estate planning, insurance, pension, or actuarial advice, or medical, health, mental health, wellness, nutrition, fitness, or other healthcare advice. They do not create an advisor-client, practitioner-patient, or other professional relationship between you and RetireMint, and RetireMint does not provide regulated financial, legal, tax, or health services.
Any figures, examples, illustrations, or estimates that may appear in our content or in your plan are general in nature, are based on the information you provide and on assumptions that may not reflect your circumstances, and are not a guarantee or prediction of any outcome. Always consult a qualified professional, such as a licensed financial advisor, lawyer, accountant, insurance professional, physician, or other regulated health professional, before making decisions about your finances, estate, taxes, insurance, health, or wellness. Never disregard or delay seeking professional medical advice because of something you read on the Site or the Legacy Platform. Consent and lawful bases for processing:
We collect, use, and disclose your personal information with your consent, or as otherwise permitted or required by applicable law. Depending on the sensitivity of the information and your reasonable expectations, your consent may be express (for example, when you complete your retirement assessment or subscribe to our newsletter) or implied (for example, when you submit an inquiry and we use your contact information to respond to it). We limit the personal information we collect to what is necessary for the purposes we have identified, and we will only use your personal information for the purposes for which it was collected, unless we obtain your consent for a new purpose or a new purpose is permitted or required by law.
Where the laws of your country or region require a specific legal basis for processing, we will process your personal information only (i) where the personal information is necessary to perform a contract with you or take steps at your request before entering into a contract (e.g., respond to a demo request, manage your Legacy Platform account, or process payments), (ii) where the processing is in our legitimate interests and not overridden by your rights, or (iii) where we have your consent to do so (e.g., sending you marketing communications where consent is required). In some cases, we will have a legal obligation to collect personal information from you, such as where it is necessary to use your transaction history to complete our financial and tax obligations under the law.
If we ask you to provide personal information to comply with a legal requirement or to perform a contract with you, we will make this clear at the relevant time and advise you whether the provision of your personal information is mandatory or not (as well as of the possible consequences if you do not provide your personal information).
Where we rely on legitimate interests, this interest will typically be to operate or improve our Site and services and communicate with you as necessary to provide our services to you, for security verification purposes when you contact us, to respond to your queries, to undertake marketing, or for the purposes of potentially detecting or preventing illegal activities.
We do not make decisions about you on the Site based exclusively on automated processing. On the Legacy Platform, we may in some cases use automated tools, for example, in relation to assessing fraudulent transactions or suspicious activity. If a decision about you is made based exclusively on automated processing, we will inform you at the time or as required by law, and you may request information about the personal information and the principal factors used to make the decision, request that the information be corrected, and submit observations to a member of our staff who can review the decision.
Sharing of Personal Information
We share your personal information as described below and in this Privacy Statement, and as permitted by applicable law. We do not sell your personal information.
- Third-party service providers. We share personal information with third-parties in connection with the operation of the Site, the delivery of services to you, and the operation of our business (for example, website hosting, customer relationship management, email and marketing platforms, scheduling tools, payment processing, customer service, business analytics, fraud prevention and compliance services, and to serve you with advertising tailored to your interests). These third-party service providers are required by contract to protect personal information we share with them and may not use any directly identifying personal information other than to provide services we contracted them for. They are not allowed to use the personal information we share for purposes of their own direct marketing (unless you have separately consented with the third-party under the terms provided by the third-party).
- Retirement service providers (Legacy Platform only). If you are a Legacy Platform user, we share personal information with retirement-related suppliers that you choose to book or communicate with, such as financial advisors, estate planners, coaches or psychology specialists, insurance, activity and fitness coaches, and where available, activity providers or other partners who fulfill your booking. Please note that retirement service suppliers may contact you to obtain additional information if and as required to facilitate your booking or to otherwise provide the planning or associated services. Retirement service providers are independent of RetireMint, and RetireMint does not provide, supervise, or endorse any financial, legal, tax, insurance, health, wellness, or other professional advice they may give you.
- Business partners and offers. If we promote a program, event, or offer a service or product in conjunction with a third-party business partner, we will share your information with that partner, with your consent where required, to assist in marketing or to provide the associated product or service. In most of those cases, the program or offer will include the name of the third-party business partner, either alone or with ours, or you will be redirected to the website of that business with notice.
- Other Third-Parties. When you access certain features like social media buttons, embedded content, or a single sign-on that allows you to login with your Google or other account credentials, you will share information with the third-party, such as the fact that you have visited or interacted with us. The third-party provider may combine this information with other information they have about you. The personal information shared will be governed by the third-party provider’s privacy policy (including any personal information we may access via the third-party provider). The third-party providers should inform you about how you can modify your privacy settings on their site.
- Legal rights and obligations. We may disclose your personal information to enforce our policies, or where we are permitted (or believe in good faith that we are required) to do so by applicable law, such as in response to a request by a law enforcement or governmental authority, in connection with actual or proposed litigation, or to protect and defend our property, people and other rights or interests. We may also share your personal information pursuant to a subpoena or other legal request, or as necessary to remit certain taxes in the course of processing payments as required by law or legal process.
- Corporate. We may share your personal information in connection with an actual or prospective corporate transaction, such as a financing, divestiture, merger, consolidation, assignment or asset sale, or in the unlikely event of bankruptcy. In the case of any such transaction, we will require the other party to use your personal information only for the purposes disclosed in this Privacy Statement and to protect it with appropriate safeguards.
Storage and Transfer of Personal Information Outside of Your Province or Canada
Some of our service providers, including providers of hosting, analytics, and communication tools, may store or process personal information outside of your province or territory or outside of Canada, including in the United States. Before transferring personal information outside of Quebec or Canada, we assess, where required by law, whether it will receive adequate protection, and we take reasonable steps, including contractual measures, to ensure that it receives a level of protection comparable to that required in Canada. Personal information stored or processed outside of Canada may be subject to the laws of that jurisdiction and may be accessible to the courts, law enforcement, and national security authorities of that jurisdiction.
Data Collection and Sharing with Third-Party Tools
Data Shared with Third-Party Tools
At RetireMint, we utilize third-party tools, such as those provided by Google API Services, to enhance your experience on the Legacy Platform. Any use of such services, such as Google Auth Login or Google Calendar, uses direct use of Google API services. RetireMint does not sell, or transfer to third-parties, any user data received from Google APIs, except as necessary to provide or improve user-facing features, to comply with applicable law, or as part of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets with notice to users.
RetireMint’s use and transfer to any other app of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
User Consent for Data Sharing
We prioritize your privacy and are committed to ensuring that you have control over your data. Any agreement to utilize third-party tools, such as the Google Calendar API, requires your explicit consent and confirmation, and you may revoke that access at any time through your Google account settings.
Ensuring Privacy Compliance
RetireMint adheres to Google’s privacy compliance requirements. We continuously review our data practices to uphold the highest standards of privacy protection.
Your Rights and Choices
You have certain rights and choices with respect to your personal information, as described below:
- You may request access to the personal information we hold about you, and information about how it has been used and disclosed
- You can update or correct the accuracy of your information at any time by contacting us or, if you are a Legacy Platform user, by logging into your account
- If you no longer wish to receive marketing and promotional emails, you may unsubscribe by clicking the ‘unsubscribe’ link in the email or by contacting us. Legacy Platform users can also log into their account to change communication settings. Please note that if you choose to unsubscribe from or opt out of marketing emails, we may still send you important transactional and account-related messages from which you will not be able to unsubscribe
- You may withdraw your consent at any time, subject to legal or contractual restrictions and reasonable notice, by contacting us. Withdrawing your consent will not affect the lawfulness of any processing that occurred before you withdrew consent and it will not affect our processing of your personal information that is conducted in reliance on a legal basis other than consent. If you withdraw your consent, we may not be able to provide you with certain services
Depending on where you live, including in Quebec, you may have additional rights relating to your personal information. These may include the ability to:
- Request a copy of your personal information, including, where applicable, in a structured, commonly used technological format, and to have it transferred to another organization
- Request information about the purpose of the processing activities
- Request that we delete your personal information, subject to legal retention requirements
- Object to our use or disclosure of your personal information
- Restrict the processing of your personal information
- Request that we cease disseminating your personal information or de-index any hyperlink attached to your name that provides access to your personal information, where permitted by law
- Request information about any decision made about you based exclusively on automated processing and the principal factors that led to the decision
You may submit your request to us using the information in the Contact Us section. We may need to verify your identity before responding to your request. We will respond to requests within thirty (30) days, or within any other time period required by applicable law, and will let you know if we need more time or are unable to fulfill your request and why.
If you have a concern or complaint about how we handle your personal information, please contact our Privacy Officer. We will investigate every complaint, respond to you, and, if a complaint is found to be justified, take appropriate measures, including amending our policies and practices where necessary.
In addition to the above rights, you have the right to complain to a privacy regulator, such as the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada or, for residents of Quebec, the Commission d’accès à l’information du Québec, about our collection and use of your personal information. However, we encourage you to contact us first so we can do our best to resolve your concern.
Children
The Site and the Legacy Platform are intended for adults and are not directed to individuals under the age of majority in their province or territory of residence. We do not knowingly collect personal information from minors. If you believe a minor has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will take steps to delete it.
Security
We want you to feel confident about using our Site and all associated tools and services, and we are committed to taking appropriate steps to protect the information we collect. While no company can guarantee absolute security, we take reasonable steps to implement appropriate physical, technical, and organizational safeguards, appropriate to the sensitivity of the information, to protect the personal information that we collect and process against loss, theft, and unauthorized access, use, disclosure, copying, or modification. Access to personal information is limited to those employees and service providers who need it to perform their duties.
If a privacy breach involving your personal information creates a real risk of significant harm to you, or a risk of serious injury as defined by applicable law, we will notify you and the applicable privacy regulators as required by law.
Record Retention
We will retain your personal information in accordance with all applicable laws, for as long as it may be relevant to fulfill the purposes set forth in this Privacy Statement, unless a longer retention period is required or permitted by law. When personal information is no longer required, we will securely destroy it, or deidentify, aggregate, or otherwise anonymize it. We will deidentify, aggregate, or otherwise anonymize your personal information if we intend to use it for analytical purposes or trend analysis over longer periods of time.
The criteria we use to determine our retention periods include:
- The duration of our relationship with you, including any open inquiry or sales discussions, any open Legacy Platform account you may have with RetireMint, or recent bookings or other transactions you have made on the Legacy Platform
- Whether we have a legal obligation related to your personal information, such as laws requiring us to keep records of your transactions with us
- Whether there are any current and relevant legal obligations affecting how long we will keep your personal information, including contractual obligations, litigation holds, statutes of limitations, and regulatory investigations
If you close your Legacy Platform account, we will delete or anonymize your retirement assessment and account information within a reasonable period, except where we are required or permitted by law to keep it.

- Local Storage Objects, such as HTML 5, are used to store content and preferences. Third-parties with whom we partner to provide certain features on our site to display advertising based upon your web browsing activity use Local Storage Objects to collect and store information.
All of the technologies described above will be collectively referred to in this Cookie Statement as “cookies”.

- Analytics Cookies. We use analytics cookies to:
- Understand our site’s performance and how it is used, including the number of visitors, how long you stay on the site, and which parts of the site you visit. These third-parties include business partners who collect information when you view or interact with one of their advertisements on our sites or our advertising on their sites, and advertising networks, which collect information about your interests when you view or interact with one of the advertisements or tracking mechanisms they place on many different sites on the Internet. Our partners may make assumptions about your interests, characteristics, or preferences and add you to groups based on those assumptions in order to show you tailored advertisements. RetireMint does not have access to the cookies these third-parties may use to collect information about your interests, and the information practices of these third-parties are not covered by this Cookie Statement or our Privacy Statement. Some of these companies are members of the Digital Advertising Alliance of Canada or the Network Advertising Initiative, which provide information about ad targeting by member companies.
Your information choices
Third-party advertising networks and industry associations provide information about tailored online advertising, and how it can be limited, through the following resources:
- For Canada: https://youradchoices.ca/en/tools
- For U.S. and rest of world:
If you limit tailored advertising through these resources, you will still see online advertisements, but they will be general and less relevant to you.
